Some Terms You May Have Heard at Our Office!
Myopia- When looking straight out things look smaller and further away, this is also called Nearsightedness.
Hyperopia- When looking straight out things look larger and closer. this is also called Farsightedness.
Astigmatism- Vertical things look slanted left or right, horizontal things look tilted left or right.
Presbyopia- Needing bifocals- In downgaze the bifocal power interacts with the distance prescription to produce the net result.
Prism- Transparent body bounded in part by two plane faces which are not parallel. They can not bend light and bring light to a point of focus.
Lenses- A transparent body having two opposite regular surfaces, either plane or curved, and functioning as part of optical system. Lenses can refract (bend) light and bring to a point of focus.
Refraction- This is where Dr. Warner goes is 1 better or 2….etc. The bending of light at an interface between two media of different reactive indices.
